Utah Visit - 4th of July

This year for the 4th of July we went to Taylorsville, Utah, to spend a few days with Ben and Sarah, Sessie, and Grandpa and Grandma Martinez. It was a wonderful visit that went by too fast!

Our main purpose was to get to meet Baby Clarice - she is Ben and Sarah's new daughter who was born in April. She is a darling little thing and my kids all loved her!

I don't know what is happening here or why he doesn't have a shirt on.

Our first day there we went to the pool that was a hop, skip, and a jump from Sessie/Ben and Sarah's house. It was a great way to fill our time, especially because it was really hot outside!

When we got back to the house the kids watched a movie (and one fell asleep) while the adults played games.

Sessie's chairs are like an amusement park ride!

On July 3rd we went to Gpa and Gma Martinez's home for a family BBQ lunch. It was so wonderful to see all the people who could come!

Sawyer is my cousin Amy's son. They had fun playing together!

Shortly after this Lydia fell asleep on Uncle Todd's shoulder. It was so sweet!

Brianna loved toting little Bandit around. I'm glad he was tolerant of her!

On the 4th we went to breakfast with Grandpa and Grandma, and then spent the day with Ben and Sarah at Ron and Jen Mudrow's house (Sarah's parents). They have a great backyard that the kids loved playing in. The biggest hit was the treehouse/playset that they have built in their tree.

There was a water fight!! Kids getting soaked and then playing on the playground made for some pretty dirty bodies!

Maya and Brianna had fun hunting for snail shells.

Diiiiiiirty little boy!

After our adventures at the Mudrow's we went back to the hotel and quickly showered our dirty children. We went back to Sessie's to hang out for the evening.

Sessie has a mink coat that was given to her by my great grandmother, Eunice. We all had to try it on! That evening the kids went to sleep at Sessie's and the adults played games. Once it was dark we started to hear a lot of fireworks. We went into the backyard and could see them being set off all around the house! It was a great personal show.

After breakfast on the 5th we headed back home.

Once we got home we fully intended on entering our home. Alas, we could not. We locked ourselves out! The house key on my key chain apparently is not the key to THIS house. After about an hour of trying to break in we eventually discovered a window that was not fully closed. I climbed inside and let everyone in. What an adventure!

We had a great vacation and look forward to going back sometime. Dallin still asks to go back to Utah and the treehouse almost everyday!

Crazy about being locked out of your house! I didn't know that happened! I've done that twice, once just me and the other with Garrett. Fortunately, we had the option of calling the leasing office to come let us in! Our current place only has a deadbolt, so it's harder to lock yourself out.
