Dance Recital

Picture post!

May Mascarades

May was great! Lots of fun stuff!

Kent came for his annual spring visit. He was an absolute baby whisperer. When he held Lydia she never cried. I told him he needed to stay for a while, but alas, he left.

Dallin has recently started to love coloring! He will get out his little book from the coloring book drawer and the box of crayons and set himself up.

Lydia is very loved by Brianna.

Crazy mornings at the Koenig house!! Our bed is often a gathering place in the morning.

I planted my garden, with the help of these sweet gardeners. We planted sweet red bell peppers, banana peppers, Brussels sprouts (Brianna's favorite vegetable right now!), cucumber, green beans, cherry tomatoes, whopper tomatoes, and butternut squash. The strawberry patch from last year came back full and strong and it's looking beautiful. It's been a fight with mother nature this year. In the last three weeks of May we had several frosts and two snowfalls. I was not happy!!! I had to replace the squash and green beans, and the cucumber twice, even though I was very diligent about covering my plants! I chock it up to my novice skills; next year I won't be planting until Memorial Day weekend.

While Grandpa Kent was here he was a great help to Ryan with working on finishing the basement. Dallin enjoyed watching the construction.

The hair style doing is somewhat lacking these days. Lydia is not okay with me having much spare time, but when I get a chance I still love doing it.

Some cute little kids. I love Dallin's crescent moon eyes.

Sunday afternoons are quiet at our house. Everyone takes a nap at the same time! Well, four of us do. The other two tend to watch a movie or play quietly. Someday they will re-embrace the loveliness of naps.

On Mother's Day we went on a long family walk along Spring Creek Trail. We walked for something like an hour and a half. The best gift I could have gotten was that the girls didn't complain ONCE and they walked the entire way. I was very proud of them!

A little bit more hair.

I was folding laundry one day and saw something coming up the back of my thigh. I flipped over and yelled at the girls to get it off of me. They were freaking out too haha! Maya was brave and knocked it off of me. We discovered that this is a green shield beetle. We scooped it up and put it outside.

I buzzed Dallin's hair. 'Cause it was long and I don't like long hair on boys. Contrary to popular belief, my face is copying his, not vice versa.

I attended Maya's Kindergarten Celebration. They sang some cute songs and each said something about their year in kindergarten. Maya said she loved learning math! I was lucky enough to catch a yawning face.

Dallin sat with Camille, a good friend of mine. He loves her so much! Every week at church he ditches us to sit with her.

After the celebration we had lunch with the kiddos. Maya opted to sit with her friends instead of me, which was fine. I'm happy to see her wanting to be social!

Lydia started smiling!

Dallin and Maya have a sweet relationship. They're great little buddies, and I can always count on Maya to help me with him.

The same day (and time) as Maya's kindergarten celebration, Brianna had a pool party for her last day of preschool. Since I couldn't go, my friend Melissa took Brianna for me. Her twins, Anna and Audrey, were in the same preschool class. Brianna got to spend all day with them and she loved it!

A tiny footprint on our coffee table.

Maya had school a week longer than Brianna did, so we did some things together while Maya was gone. Brianna likes to play Qwirkle with me. The best part? There are no rules when we play.

Maya finished kindergarten! On the last day of school she wore a heavy coat and boots. A little bit weird!! Remember those frosts I mentioned? Furreals, Mother Nature was not a happy camper this year.

This is Maya's teacher, Kelsi Klinger. She was so wonderful! I hope Brianna gets her next year.

I call this a chandelier braid.

We went to the park!

They wanted to paint, so paint they did. It was messy, and at the end all of the water got spilled when I was trying to make dinner. I did not love that. It may be a while before we paint again. I'm glad they had fun anyway!

We went to the park again!

And that's that for May!
