Deja Vu Date

On Saturday night we did a repeat date with David and Ashley. We went to dinner and then ice skating on Evergreen Lake, almost exactly two years after we did it the first time.

We met up and had dinner at a little joint called One World Cafe. It had the ambiance of a "college student" restaurant; the joint was pretty quaint, and the food was yummy.

After dinner we drove to Evergreen Lake. We purchased our skates and headed on out to the ice! I don't ice skate much ...at all... and never really roller bladed or roller skated before either, so it is always a little bit of a learning experience each time I get on the ice with 1/4 inch blades on. Ryan told me to be brave and have fun, so I did.

We enjoyed skating around the lake while having conversations. We decided to go back in when our legs were freezing, and besides, the lake was "closed" by that point.

It was a fun evening, and I think I will count it as a late Valentine's Day date. :)

It doesn't matter

Our first Valentine's Day was a mere 3 weeks after we started dating, but it was exceptional. Ryan's brother and wife invited us to go out to dinner and then ice skating on Evergreen Lake with them. I thought it was so nice of them to let us high-jack their date, and we had a great time (the four of us are actually planning to go again soon)! Last year we had dinner at an incredible Italian restaurant and then went to an Avalanche game with a of couple nephews. This year, however, was a little different for us.

I got a call from Ryan at 2:30 telling me that his time at work was not going to end that night until pretty late. Surprisingly enough, I was not upset. I am kind of proud of myself for that. :)

I made some Cajun Chicken Pasta for dinner and banana bread for dessert. I packed it all up and took dinner to Ryan at his work. We sat in the little kitchen area and had our Valentine's Day Date! I even got a little crazy and drank Coke Zero.

After we finished eating, I went with Ryan back to his cubicle and realized that I didn't yet want to leave. We both wished I had brought the iPad with me so I could watch TV on it. Ryan remembered that he had Casino Royale in his work laptop, so he turned it on and I used headphones and watched it in a little corner of one of the monitors on Ryan's desk. Ryan knows that movie so well, he didn't need to be able to hear, and he was still able to work!

After it ended, we shared some peanut butter cookies with Dove chocolates in the center that my visiting teacher brought to me. I still didn't want to leave, and Ryan wasn't about to kick me out, so I played some Cover Orange on my phone.

I ended up staying with Ryan at Plexus for 5 hours. I finally left for home a little after midnight. Ryan joined me at 3 AM, when I was still laying awake in bed due to my crazy Coke Zero drinking.

Although this year was not traditional for us, I still had a good time. After all, it doesn't matter what we are doing or where we are at, the only thing that matters is that we have each other.

Happy Valentine's Day!
