May was so cram packed with fun I can hardly stand it!
The month started off with a nice hot day so we got out our new sprinkler sprayer toy and the kids played in that for a while.
Then we had a rainbow!
One Sunday afternoon we took a family walk along the Poudre River. The kids have fun spending some time throwing rocks into the river.
Somebody fell asleep on the toilet!
Lydia discovered that the door under the grill opens and it fits her little self just perfectly! We have since turned the grill around so she can't climb in among the nasty grease and gas.
The girls got to go back to the dance studio for class again. Yay! The lobby was closed so we could not hang out in there waiting for the class to end. Instead, I strapped Lydia in the baby carrier and Dallin in the stroller and we went for a walk every week. I'm so glad the weather is nice enough to be outside.
One week after dance class we popped into the car wash next door. It was quite a hit with the kids!
Mmmmmm.....root beer fumes.
I got De Quarvain's Tendinitis in my right hand. It started developing it in February and by Easter of this year it was pretty painful. I had no idea what it was! Ryan and Google helped diagnose me. I had all of the symptoms of the tendinitis I mentioned, but never went to a doctor for a 100% diagnosis. I started using this thumb brace and it started to get better. I wasn't super diligent in wearing it, mostly only at night, but it became obvious I needed to wear it all the time. I did that for 2 weeks and it is doing MUCH better. I still wear the brace at night but it doesn't hurt all the time like it did.
The girls got their dance recital costumes!
I planted my garden. This year we have our perennial strawberry patch, banana peppers, 4 lunchbox peppers, cantaloupe, cucumber, 2 tomatoes, basil, and marigolds. I planted the basil and flowers a week after my initial planting, so they are not pictured. The peppers and tomatoes are growing really well! I am skeptical about how the cantaloupe and cucumber are doing. So far I'm not impressed. I did a lot to prep my garden bed this year: peat moss, vermiculite, and fertilizer mixed into the top 6 inches of soil, I took off all of the dead leaves, and did a lot of research on each plant to make sure I take care of it correctly. One big thing I took away from my research is that I watered way too much my first two years.
After I planted my garden the kids had lunch outside on the patio.
One Sunday afternoon we went on a hike with Brady and Erin and their kids. We went to Horsetooth Falls again, but took a different route. Everyone had a great time!
I made ratatouille for dinner. It was so super yummy! A dish chock full of healthy vegetables and herbs. It was a lot of work but worth it.
The teachers did a parade around our neighborhood to say hello/goodbye on the last day of school. Sadly, our street got missed, even though it was on the route. We sent pictures of the posters to their teachers, and Brianna's teacher came by the next day to say hello for a few minutes.
We went on yet another hike! This time to Horsetooth Rock with the Searle family. I wasn't sure if Maya and Brianna could make it all the way to the top (it is the hardest hike they have done on their own thus far) but they did so great! Not a single complaint up or down. Dallin and Lydia were in baby carriers most of the time. We loved getting to spend the morning with the Searles! They are a great bunch of people.
Later that same day we had Emma come over and play for a few hours. It was so magical. The first play date since early March!
Sweet loves.
Attention! Attention! There is a toilet in the basement!!!
We got out the bubble machine one afternoon after lunch. It was a hit!
I made Kool-Aid pie, recipe courtesy of Sarah. It was very sweet, but a perfect summer treat. We loved it!
I found Dallin asleep in my closet one day. He napped there for two hours.
One day Lydia took an afternoon nap (that doesn't happen everyday anymore). Maya wanted to do something together, so we made paper plate butterflies. Brianna made some bead necklaces. These two girls love to craft!
Last but not least, our MegaSlide made its debut for the season. I am so grateful we made this investment last year, especially with the pool not opening on time. Thanks, COVID-19. You're the best.
