The month of August this year was another fun one! Truly, is any month not fun with this little family of mine? There is always something going on, even if it's nothing.
One evening we spent some time harvesting the garden and Dallin enjoyed himself some time in the dirt. He even sampled a bit of the delectable crunch of soil.
We had family in town the weekend of August 4th and one day we went to Estes Park to do some shopping and hang out. I'm glad we got to go, it's always fun getting up there!
These fairies in the window have always been something I enjoy to look at, and when Maya paused a few extra moments to check it out I had to capture her loving the same things I do.
A perfect ornament for our Christmas tree!
Back at home, Dallin's whole life flashed before his eyes. It was a pretty quick flash.
We had the pleasure of hosting Ben and Sarah's wedding open house on August 4th. It was a fun undertaking and I'm glad we were able to do it. Sarah is great with our kids; the girls LOVE playing with her!
Ryan and Ben spent some time burying a thing in the backyard. Hard labor is good for a man.
That evening we had their open house. The decorations and food were so nice.
Dallin made a friend! And then he hit her on the head and made her cry. Shame.
Sisters and babies. Yay!
Dallin sometimes falls asleep so hard at church that Ryan can lay him on the floor in Sunday School and he continues to sleep.
One evening I took the kids to the park. It was a nice time spent together with no stress of needing to get back home for this, that, or the other thing.
With school starting, I decided to get back into the hair doing thing. I have had fun!
Maya did mine too. I left it in most of the day - until the bobby pins felt not great.
Maya and Brianna spend hours playing together every day. Most of the time I only have to make sure I feed them. Other than that, they're off doing games or activities together. It is SO nice and I count my blessings every day that I was able to give Maya a playmate, because let's face it, my imagination isn't so great anymore.
We brought in a huge harvest one day!
The kids are so cute together. Dallin was tickling Maya and all three of them were cracking up.
I told Dallin to tickle Brianna, but instead he laid sweetly on her tummy.
Anniversary date night! We went to Maza Kabob for dinner (Afghani food - yum!) and then played miniature golf at Fort Fun. I told Ryan I wasn't very good, and then I ended up doing very good. I didn't know, I swear!
We used two pounds of tomatoes and two poblanos from that huge harvest to make some salsa that was super yummilicious.
School hair!
Ryan had a birthday and on his birthday Brianna helped me make a pie for him. She spent an hour playing with the extra pie crust dough.
Another park day! This time we went to Lee Martinez Park with my friend Lauren and her two boys.
We had a girls day! We spent a couple of hours at Scheel's and then went to Barnes and Noble to look at books. It was so much fun!!
The girls started a ballet/tap dance class at a new studio called The Studio (go figure). So far they are really enjoying it.
More hair for school. I am really glad to have the excuse to do their hair again!
Story before bedtime.
Last but not least, one day the kids and I went on a nature walk/hike. The girls did great (I think we went about 1 3/4 mile but I don't remember for sure). Dallin enjoys being outside very much so he also did great in the LILLEbaby carrier. The only thing I wish was different was that we had more water. I only brought one water bottle and it was not enough.
The clouds behind me are a pretty color, yes? Right before we got to the car, just a few minutes away, it started raining a little but lightning/thundering a lot, and very close by. We ran!! I'll not have my kids electrocuted on a fun outing! We made it safe and sound and went home. :D
