Easter Weekend

This past weekend was pretty perfect.

The weather is starting to really express the fact that it is now Spring.

We have a cute little park in our neighborhood (that has a bouldering rock! Ryan is excited) and we decided to take a little walk with Maya to sit on the swings and enjoy the sun. We made sure to cover her in sunscreen. As much as I love peeling things, I do not want sweet Maya to get a sunburn! I would feel awful.

As you can see, Maya did not seem to get as much pleasure from swinging as we did! She sure was content though. I imagine she will grow up to love the outdoors and someday I will have her begging me to take her to the park (can't wait!).

Later that day we ran a few errands. Maya is pretty much the most chill baby ever. We were gone for about 4 hours, and she didn't get cranky at all - even though she more or less missed a nap. Ryan and I go on and on about how blessed we are to have her kind of temperament in our first baby.

Easter morning we got up bright and early (I literally watched the sunrise from my chair in Maya's nursery) and went to church with my family in Fort Collins. It was really nice to see friends from that ward. We realized it has been a whole year and a half since we moved to Erie! It is so amazing how quickly time passes while you're living life.

After church we came back to my parents' home for a tasty lunch and Maya took a nice long nap.

After her nap we took some family Easter pictures. I love how much Ryan is in love our daughter. He is so hands-on with her. I am truly blessed to have such a great husband to be the father of my children.

I'm a little in love with Maya, too. She is the joy of every moment during my day.

And judging by her sweet kisses and hugs, I'm pretty sure this darling girl loves us back!

I love these shots of Maya with my parents! They're pretty great with her!

Maya also got her first Easter basket! She loved the bunny inside!

For dinner we joined Ryan's siblings. We had tasty food and good conversation. We always enjoy getting to spend time with them.

And just to prove that she DOES smile (I don't know why it's so hard to get her to do it for the camera)....

Ryan was playing with her. She loves her yellow giraffe from Grandma Carolyn!

Happy Easter!!

Snowy Day Activities

Last weekend we awoke to a winter wonderland.

So, just what is there to do on a Saturday when there's so much snow? Well, let me tell you.

Have a lovely made-from-scratch pancake breakfast. (It was a super good recipe! Try it.)

Play a little Assassin's Creed.

Take a nap.

Look at the pretty snow.

Give kisses and hugs.

Enjoy some awesome entertainment.

Shovel the snow.

Play a game. This is Rival for Catan. It is a 2-player game that Ryan and I have been playing together. We got it to have some time spent together interacting more than a movie allows, and it's really fun!

Nothing like a good snow day!

3 Months!

This past weekend our sweet Maya turned 3 months old!

She is pretty much my most favorite baby ever.

When I was reading up on how to be a good mom, there were all sorts of things saying: "No stuffed animals, blankets, bumpers, or anything else in the crib while baby is sleeping because they might suffocate." I thought this was smart, but also kind of wondered how a kid could possibly suffocate when they can't even move. False. I have found Maya in some interesting positions when I go get her in the night to feed her. I have found her facing 180 degrees different from how I put her down. I have found her laying vertical at the top of the crib. And she did this while swaddled even! She must have magical powers.

She is growing like a weed! Even though she was born so small, she is keeping up with the clothes sizes that match her age.

She has apparently reached the age that she knows when she is being "ignored". She will get super sad when I start to do my make up or hair but cheers right up if I start paying attention to her again. It's really cute... and somewhat inconvenient at times.

She has started paying attention to her extremities. Sometimes she will just put her hand up in the air and turn it while looking at it. And one morning she was very concerned about those things at the end of her legs. It's fun to see her discovering her own body.

She sits! Sort of! I like this picture because it looks like she's groovin' to some music.

She is still extremely even tempered. Even as I type this, she is sitting on my lap quietly.

I have not been the best at making her do tummy time. But when I read something about kids her age being able to do mini push-ups, I realized I should kind of get on the ball about it, because she would just lay with her face pressed on the ground and wiggle. I have been more diligent about it for the past 2 weeks or so, and there is already a vast improvement. I'm glad she learns quickly!

We captured her first "Look, I can hold a toy for longer than 3 seconds!" (Don't mind the spit-up on her shirt...it happens.)

She has this really awesome halo of baldness. I think it's actually starting to fill in a little bit, but it is quite pronounced (as you will see in the last few photos). I think it's cute, especially because she could not care less that her hair is not perfect.

We got some super cute shots of Ryan with Maya. She was being such a great sport during this photo shoot!

And then we took some of her and me... and this is what we got.

At least we got one good picture together!

And just because her frowns are so cute...

Also, this past month Maya became a super model! My boss asked to use the two of us in photo and video shoots for the lillebaby COMPLETE carrier. It's kind of hard work because babies cry, especially when you don't want them to. But here are a few of my favorite shots (that I have seen):

Scary hand!

This precious baby is already growing up so fast! My goal for the next month: get her to laugh!!
